The 5 steps, with a tip for you

  1. Brush teethParent tip: About 2 minutes - you can sing a short song.
  2. Put on school shoesParent tip: Check that the shoes are not on the wrong feet.
  3. Pack snack in bagParent tip: Let the child choose a snack.
  4. Eat breakfastParent tip: Even a small amount counts.
  5. Put on jacketParent tip: Look at the weather together.

Make it a quest instead of a reminder

Instead of repeating the instruction, start with a tiny story. In Mess Monsters this routine opens like this: “Bed Lump woke up but is still very sleepy. Shall we help step by step?”

You stay the game master. Your child does the real step, you confirm it on your phone, and Bed Lump gets a little happier with every step. The phone stays with the adult; the routine happens in the real world.
