Mess Monsters is a parent-operated routine helper. The app does not create child accounts, require registration, or ask children to provide personal information.
Local Data
Routine progress, quest history, saved routines, reward stars, family goals, Time for Myself usage, and child profiles are stored locally on your device whenever possible. This information is used to show progress, repeat routines, and personalize the experience inside the app.
Camera and Photos
Mess Monsters may request camera access for optional Camera Rescue quests and the optional Monster Visit / victory photo reward. Camera Rescue lets a parent photograph a real-world mess and turn it into a cleanup quest.
Camera images, Camera Rescue photos, and Monster Visit / victory photos are processed and stored locally on your device. Mess Monsters does not upload those photos to our servers. Photos are saved only on your device when you choose to save them.
Analytics
Mess Monsters collects anonymous first-party technical and app-usage analytics to understand app performance, diagnose problems, and improve reliability.
Analytics may include app and device information, feature interaction, quest completion or abandonment, and technical diagnostics or error information. Analytics does not include child names, photos, custom routine text, contacts, precise location, or microphone recordings.
AI Quest Generation
AI quest generation is optional. Before any data is sent for AI processing, Mess Monsters asks for your explicit permission inside the app. If you choose “Not now”, nothing is sent, and you can still create missions manually or use the built-in quest library. You can turn AI quest processing off at any time in Parent Area → App Settings.
When you use AI quest generation, the app sends to our servers only: the task or quest description you type, the quest context needed to build the mission (for example, the selected category and number of steps), and the app language. Our servers may send this text to Groq, our AI provider, to generate the quest. Groq processes it as our service provider; see Groq’s privacy policy.
For AI quest generation we do not send camera photos, Camera Rescue or Monster Visit photos, microphone recordings or audio, child profile names or photos, contacts, precise location, or payment details. Please avoid typing a child’s full name or other personal details into the task description.
Text sent for AI quest generation is used only to create the quest you requested. It is not used for advertising or sold, and our servers do not keep it after the generated quest is returned to the app.
Time for Myself
Time for Myself is an in-app timer quest. It does not lock the device, limit apps, control the operating system, or manage system usage settings. It only helps a parent set a calm time goal inside Mess Monsters.
Purchases
If you purchase Parent Pass or another in-app purchase, the transaction is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Monthly and yearly subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase may be available in the app.
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and check which features you have unlocked. RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription information from Apple (such as product, price, and renewal status), together with an anonymous app user ID and an anonymous app install identifier. It does not receive child names, photos, or quest text. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell personal data. We do not share child data with advertisers. We do not create child accounts. We do not upload Camera Rescue or Monster Visit / victory photos to our servers. We do not use photos, contacts, precise location, or microphone data for tracking. We do not send any data for AI processing without your permission, and AI quest text is not used for advertising.
